SCENARIO COMPARISON / THE SAME FREIGHT, THREE CHOICES

DON’T JUST COMPARE
THE PRICE.

A lower rate can mean more waiting, more handling—or a missed deadline. Put the full set of assumptions next to each other before deciding what to investigate.

FICTIONAL EXAMPLE · NO PROFILE APPLIED

Shanghai → Rotterdam

20 40-ft containers / month · Ocean freight

One monthly demand, held constant across every strategy.

ENTERED TRANSPORT BASELINE / MONTH$55,000Current fuel included. Other costs are added explicitly below.EDIT SHIPPING PROFILE ↗

Starts these unsaved cases again from your current applied profile, or the fictional example if none is applied. Saved cases stay untouched. You can cancel before replacing edited inputs.

SAME DEMAND.
EXPLICIT TRADE-OFFS.

All starting rates, time and capacity assumptions below are illustrative—even when your real profile supplies the baseline. Edit them to test your own case.

SHARED ACROSS ALL THREE CASES

Keep it like-for-like.

Monthly demand stays at 20 containers. Consolidation never removes shipments from the calculation.

Calculations will appear here. No inputs are stored until you save.
01FICTIONAL STARTER

SHIP NOW.

Start from the entered transport cost. Add the time and costs that still apply.

02FICTIONAL STARTER

Test a different rate against waiting and handling costs. Quantity stays unchanged.

Test an alternative service assumption. No lane, mode or packing conversion is inferred.

THE COMPARISON SHELF.

0 / 8 SAVED

Saved cases keep their mode, lane, quantity, cost basis, time and capacity assumptions. No later profile edit rewrites them.

Uses the latest readable tab/device collection. Keeps your working inputs unchanged. Save checks that no newer shelf has appeared; cooperating tabs use a browser lock when available.

Keep a case. Build a comparison.

Save any strategy above. Exact repeat saves do not create duplicates. Different demand, lane, profile or shared assumptions are flagged—not ranked together.

Clears this tool’s case data, not your profile or working inputs. Empty reset markers prevent stale tabs from restoring deleted cases.

THE FORMULA IS THE PRODUCT

SHOW THE WORK.
KEEP THE LIMITS.

Monthly cost = quantity × transport unit cost
+ explicit extra monthly costs
+ quantity × (hold + transit days) × carrying cost per unit/day.

All cases use one unchanged monthly quantity and USD. Transport includes the fuel already in your entered rate; no second automatic fuel surcharge is added. Taxes, duties and other accessorials are excluded unless you explicitly include them in extra costs. Components round half-up to cents before the total. Modeled totals above $1 trillion are outside this tool’s limit.

Capacity and deadline are basic feasibility checks, not a promise of service. They do not model loading plans, schedule uncertainty, partial shipments, multiple departures, inventory depletion, cargo value, insurance or network optimization. “Lowest modeled cost” is not a recommendation or a verified saving.
