REAL OBSERVATIONS.
CLEAR BOUNDARIES.

A fuel benchmark can inform the question. It cannot tell you what a carrier will charge. Read the date, geography and unit before using a number.

Why fuel data—not invented freight quotes? EIA’s retail fuel surveys offer attributable public data. Ocean, air-cargo and contract rail quotes require appropriate provider access or your own current invoice. Those feeds are not connected. Refinitiv-derived jet data is not redistributed here pending reuse review. No EIA logos or implied endorsement. EIA reuse policy ↗

PUT THE DIESEL CHANGE IN CONTEXT.

Compare two observed diesel prices against assumed mileage, fuel economy and monthly truck movements. Not a future-price scenario or carrier invoice.

Gallons = miles per load ÷ MPG × loads. Fuel-cost difference = gallons × (comparison price − reference price). Assumes identical mileage and fuel economy in both cases. National retail diesel may differ from fuel bought on your route. Excludes idling, refrigeration, deadhead, discounts, maintenance, wages, tolls, margin and contractual surcharge rules. It is not added automatically to your transport budget.
